Local legend is a term used to describe someone or something that has had a significant impact on a community. These people or things can be individuals, families, businesses, organizations or even places that have contributed to a town’s culture and development. They are often remembered for their kindness, generosity and/or shenanigans.
First introduced in Fontaine, Local Legends are specialized mini-boss enemies that can be found in Liyue and Natlan. They are enhanced variants of Common or Elite Enemies, and have significantly increased stats and improved or new attacks compared to their normal variant. Defeating them grants large amounts of Mora, experience, and, if applicable, Character and Weapon Enhancement Materials. They also provide an extra challenge when facing them.
Unlike Strava KOMs, QOMs and CRs which are based on segment time, Local Legends reward dedication to a given segment regardless of pace or speed. To become a Local Legend for a segment, athletes must complete the segment the most times in a rolling 90 day window. Once they have achieved this, a Laurel Crown icon will appear next to the segment on the histogram leaderboard and their activity page. Only efforts that are visible to “Everyone” will count towards the Local Legend competition.
The Local Legends found in Natlan are accessed through Nightsoul Totems, which can be located in various areas of the region. One can be found near the pond east of the Ancestral Temple, and another can be reached by solving the puzzle in Huitztli Hill. Once the totem is activated, players can approach and interact with it to engage in a challenge fight with the enemy. Defeating a Local Legend for the first time grants an achievement in addition to 830 Primogems.
